Greenberg Rhein Margolis, Inc.

For over half a century...

It has always been our belief that if we represented the finest insurance companies it would be a reflection of the quality of service we could offer our clients.

And we were correct!

Today, in our Second Generation, we continue to be recognized as one of Connecticut's most reputable Independent Insurance Agencies.

History

Our roots date back to the mid 1930's when George Greenberg founded a property and casualty agency in downtown New Haven. Robert Rhein joined the Agency during the years of World War II and the Agency name was changed to Greenberg & Rhein. Bob left the business to pursue other interests in the late 1940's and George continued on his own until 1951- when he hired Lester Margolis.

Les, had recently graduated from NYU with a degree in accounting and had been working for Postal Life Insurance Company for about six months. George wanted to offer life and health products to his clients and knew the best way was to hire a young salesman! Unfortunately, George became ill in 1952 and moved to Arizona to recuperate. He decided to stay and sold the Agency to Les. He later changed the Agency name to Greenberg Rhein & Margolis.

In 1966 the office moved out of downtown New Haven (during the infamous redevelopment years) but remained in New Haven. Les's son, David, joined the Agency in 1979. He purchased the business from his Dad in 1991 and moved the office to Woodbridge in 1996.
